Lidskjalv/Helford/1996 Demo Review

Lidskjalv where a band from Norway that played the 90's style of raw and primitive sounding Norwegian black metal and this is a review of their self released 1996 demo "Helford".

Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast drumming with a good amount of blast beats being thrown into the music, while the bass playing has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that is coming out of the guitars and at times they sound very powerful.

Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast Norwegian style black metal riffs that are very raw and primitive sounding with a brief use of soft and clean playing as well as some dark sounding melodies in addition the songs are a decent size in length and there are no guitar solos or leads present on this recording.

Vocals are mostly pitched black metal screams with some deep growls being thrown in at times, while the lyrics are written in Norwegian and cover dark themes, as for the production it has a very dark, raw and primitive sound to it.

In my opinion Lidskjalv where a very great sounding raw and primitive Norwegian black metal band that was very underrated and if you are a fan of this style, you should check out this demo. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Helford" and "Maktenes Norke".. RECOMMENDED BUY.
