Fjoi Myore/The Northern Cold/Broken Limb Recordings/2012 EP Review

Fjoi  Myore  are  a  band  from  France  that  plays  a  very  raw  and  primitive  form  of  old  school  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2012  ep  "The  Northern  Cold"  which  was  released  by  Broken  Limb  Recordings.

Drums  range  from  slow,  mid  paced   to  fast  drumming  with  some  blast  beats  being  utilized  at  times,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  dark  tone  with  riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  that  are  coming  out  of  the  guitars.

Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  old  school  black  metal  riffs  that  are  very  dark,  raw  and  primitive  sounding  along  with  some  atmospheric  elements  and  melody  being  thrown  into  the  riffing  at  times  and  there  are  no  guitar  solos  or  leads  present  on  this  recording,  as  for  the  acoustic  guitars  when  they  are  utilized  use  finger  picking  and  full  chords  to  enhance  the  dark  atmosphere  of  the  music.

Vocals  are  mostly  grim  sounding  and  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  that  have  a  very  depressive  tone  to  them  at  times  as  well  as  a  brief  use  of  deep  death  metal  growls,  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark  themes,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  dark,  raw  and  primitive  sound  with  some  of  the  songs  being  long  and  epic  in  length.

In  my  opinion  Fjoi  Myore  are  a  very  great  sounding  old  school,  raw  and  primitive  black  metal  band  with  atmospheric  elements  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS   INCLUDE  "Orage"  "Mist"  and  "The  Walkyries"  which  is  a  Ancalagon  cover.  RECOMMENDED  BUY.
