Incubo/Psi/Bloody Mountain Records/2010 Full Length Review

Incubo  are  a  1  man  band  from Italy  that plays  a  very  depressive  form of  black  metal  mixed  with  ambient  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2010  album "Psi"  which  was  released  by  Bloody  Mountain Records.

"Intro  -  After  The  Schizoidisms  Prayer"  begins  with  some distorted  sound  effects  along  with  some  guitar  riffs  and  after  awhile  drum  beats  start  coming in  and  the  song  serves  as  an  introduction  to  the  album.

"Somatic  Claustrophobia" begins  with  heavy  guitar  riffs,  drums  beats and  depressive  black metal  screams  and  after  awhile dark sounding  melodies  and  atmosphere  starts  coming  into  the  song  as  well  as  utilizing  some  synths in  the  background  and  adding  guitar  leads  in  certain  sections  of  the song.

"Ninasu"  begins with  some  dark  melodic  guitar  riffs  which  lead  up to  some  bass  guitars  and  drum  beats  as  well  as some  guitar  leads  that  come in  and  out  which  leads  to  the  black  metal vocals  starting  to  come  into  the  music  slowly  with  some ambient  synths  being in  the  background  which  leads  to  the  screams  getting  a  lot  more  louder  and  depressive  and  after  awhile you  can  hear  a  small  amount  of  avant  garde elements.

"Like  A  Disease"  begins  with  some  rain  sounds  before  the  dark  ambient  synths  start  coming   in  and  the song  is  all  instrumental.

"Remembering  Suicide"  begins with  some  dark  sounding  guitar  riffs  and  drum  beats  along with  some  high  pitched  depressive  black  metal  screams  and  ambient  synths  a  few  seconds  later and  after  awhile  dark  sounding  melodies  are  added  into  certain  sections  of  the  song  along  with  a  brief  use  of  deep  demonic  growls.

"Hope  (Dedicated To LY.)"  begins with  some  clean  guitar  playing  and  background  drones  before  adding in some distorted  melodic  guitar  lead  sounds  and  after  awhile  nature  sounds  start  coming into  the  song.

'Melancholia"  begins  with  some  slow  primitive  black  metal  guitar  riffs  and  drum  beats  along  with  some  guitar  leads  that  come  in  and  out  of  the  song  a  few  seconds  later  and  they  also  utilize  some  melody  at  times  and  after  awhile  the  depressive  black  metal screams  start  kicking  in  and  as the  song  moves  on  it  starts  getting  a  lot  more  diverse  while remaining  true  to  depressive  black  metal  and  towards  the  end  there  is  a  brief  use  of  spoken  word  parts.

Song  lyrics  cover  dark,  depressive  and  suicidal  themes,  while  the  production  has  a  very  dark, raw  and  primitive  sound  to  it  along  with  some  of  the  songs  being  very,  long  and  epic  in  length.

In  my  opinion  Incubo  are  a  very  great  sounding  hybrid  of  depressive  black  metal  and  dark  ambient  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  project.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Somatic  Claustrophobia"  and  "Remembering  Suicide".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.
